Grace never imagined that soybeans could change the way she saw ministry.
As a pastor’s wife and seminary student in northern Nigeria, she carried the weight of two callings: to share the gospel and to feed her family. But hunger made both feel nearly impossible.
Like many in her community, Grace’s children were often tired, sick, and small for their age. Across Nigeria, one in three children under the age of five suffers from poor nutrition. It steals their strength, stunts their growth, and dims their future.
So, when Grace heard about a new nutrition course at her theological college, she signed up. What she didn’t expect was how God would use a simple ingredient to open both hearts and doors.
Over the semester, Grace and 66 other women learned to prepare a handful of simple, nutrient-packed meals using soybeans. They cooked together, shared meals, and built confidence to carry these new skills home to their families. But it wasn’t just about food.

It was about community. About dignity. About discipleship.

Each graduate left with a full harvest of soybeans—enough to feed her family and start sharing with others. This plant-based protein source gave them more than better meals. It gave them a way to serve their neighbors. Grace didn’t keep it to herself. She shared her soybeans, her recipes, and her faith.
“We invited women of other faiths to join us,” Grace shared. “Now we’re friends, and we’re finding ways to share Christ’s love naturally.”
Grace’s story is just one among many. Thanks to generous supporters, this soybean initiative has already:
- Reached 6,700 people
- Trained 418 individuals in nutrition and health
- Launched 67 microenterprises
- Started 2 new Bible study groups
- Introduced 600 people to the gospel
This is compassion in action—real help that leads to real hope.
And it’s only the beginning.
With continued support, more women like Grace can be equipped to nourish their families, share their faith, and become agents of transformation in their communities.
