CHICKENS CHANGE LIVES IN MOZAMBIQUE

In Mozambique's Niassa province, Send Relief partners and local believers are addressing the lack of protein in the local diet in a creative way: chickens. A small group of families are piloting the program by learning how to raise and sell chickens. They will bring much-needed nutrition to the local community and will provide a steady income for themselves. In turn, each family will teach local church leaders how to raise chickens. These leaders will be sent out as church planters to a new community with a means to support themselves. By meeting a real need of their communities – protein – these church planters will have ample opportunities to meet their neighbors and share the gospel.

Serving Mozambique, Empowering Communities

An IMB missionary family has resided in rural Niassa for more than a decade. They've witnessed the challenges faced by the community, including limited access to meat due to diseases, theft and a lack of animal husbandry skills.

Moreover, they recognize the importance of empowering church planters and evangelists to build trust and rapport within the community. By addressing the nutritional needs of the people through a chicken farming program, these church planters will have a practical reason to engage with the local population, fostering relationships for the advancement of the gospel.
